Woodland engagement, Caerleon, Newport

Sam & Sioned had their engagement shoot in Caerleon. A lovely village on the outskirts of Newport – known for being a Roman fortress. It has it’s own Roman baths, barracks & amphitheatre and is a quaint village surrounded by lovely woodland and walks.

We wound our way through St Julian’s park which is less of a park and more of an ancient woodland that is such a treasure. Relatively quiet and unknown you can go for a walk here without meeting anyone. The forest has been known as a medieval deer park since 1583. It’s classed as ancient semi-natural woodland, meaning that there has been woodland here since the 1600s. There’s also an Iron Age hillfort in the woods.

Definitely worth a trip; there’s plenty of room to get lost and explore. Bluebells in spring, golden leaves & mushrooms in autumn. It’s beautiful all year round and has lots to offer the nature lover. We ended up making a little video too that featured a few (hoofed) special guests from the field near by.

The bride and groom to-be are having their wedding later this year at the wonderful Gwernyfed Walled Garden. Known for it’s lovely flower gardens and glass house conservatory. I’m so looking forward to being a guest at what will be a beautiful day with the loveliest couple (will resist the temptation to take photos – maybe!).
