CHURCH WEDDING – PENHOW, NEWPORT

Ashley & Rhys tied the knot at the intimate Church of St. John the Baptist in the lovely village of Penhow. Located on the East side of Newport, South Wales; it’s a really lovely little church set in the gently rolling countryside between Newport & Caldicot. It’s surrounded by beautiful green farmer’s fields and has a lovely, quiet, country feel.

WENTWOOD FOREST WEDDING, NEWPORT

We took a moment away from the wedding party to walk into Wentwood forest. It’s really important for me to get some relaxed & natural images of the newlyweds in a natural environment. My couple’s tend to be nature lovers too so it’s a priority for both of us. Wentwood is an absolute favourite of mine and as soon as I heard where these two were planning on getting married I knew we had to pay a visit! The forest was planted with lots of fir trees during the war but an effort is now being made to thin the evergreens and restore and replant native trees. It really is a magical woodland with views over the Severn estuary. I would highly recommend a visit even if it’s not with me + a photo session!

That’s what I call a knockout reception set up. 100% the groom’s vision & created by the lovely couple & their families at The Rock & Fountain’s Lodge. Rhys may need a second career as a wedding stylist!

THE ROCK AND FOUNTAIN, PENHOW, NEWPORT

Now I’ve been to The Rock & Fountain in Penhow before (for an absolutely stunner of a Sunday lunch). But I had never visited their wedding venue The Lodge before. The beautiful barn really did not disappoint. Not just with the stunning structure of the barn itself but with the absolutely breath-taking styling from the groom and the family. It was honestly such a labour of love. With the groom’s brother making each individual wooden vase holder for the couple’s beautiful florals. All the ambient light from the candles, ample floral displays and amazing band of fairy lights floating in the rafters (that the family put up themselves) really made the barn look so special.

The Lodge is slightly separate from The Rock & Fountain inn itself. Up the hill from The Rock & Fountain is their wedding venue The Lodge. The most beautiful barn wedding venue. Perfect for anyone after a barn wedding that is still super accessible, with easy routes & close to the M4. A stone’s throw from Newport and a short commute from both Cardiff & Bristol. The grade II listed inn was a welcome site for travellers on a historic coaching route and is much loved today too.

Also, I’m a massive of the newlyweds new joint name – was there ever a better double barrelled surname?
