Tintern Abbey photo shoot – Wye valley – South Wales
Tintern Abbey photo shoot
TINTERN ABBEY AND THE WYE VALLEY, MONMOUTHSHIRE
The Wye Valley is both within England and Wales, it is shared between Monmouthshire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire. It really is a great all year round place to visit in all seasons but especially in the spring, when you can find snowdrops and bluebells bursting to life in the woodlands. Well-loved for its adventurous activities, the Wye Valley brings cyclists, paddle boarders, wild swimmers, walkers, horse riders, rock climbers and those that love caving, canoeing and kayaking. There’s so much to enjoy in the area!

If I had to pick one place that you should see if you’re visiting South Wales – Monmouthshire – Chepstow – Newport area, I would have to say Tintern Abbey. It’s an absolutely stunning monastery surrounded by the beautiful Wye valley scenery.

Tintern Abbey is a beautiful national treasure; still standing proud, a stunning partial ruin, on the banks of the River Wye. The Abbey in its current form started construction in 1269. Although there was a wooden structure in this spot since 1131. Seeing the lush greens of the wooded valley through the empty but exquisite windows of Tintern is a sight to behold. A true British masterpiece of Gothic architecture encircled by the lush beauty of the Monmouthshire countryside.
Andy & Annie had intended on getting married at Tintern Abbey originally. When that unfortunately didn’t work out and they tied the knot state side instead, they decided to return and honeymoon in the area instead. The newlyweds booked a couple photo shoot with me in the place they had fallen in love with – in the romantic Tintern Abbey. A great idea I say!

The abbey speaks for itself – it really is super romantic and gothically beautiful just as it is. The perfect backdrop for any shoot! There’s a couple of spots down by the river – a short walk from the abbey I love to take people to. With the Wye river and the Old Wireworks Tramway Bridge in background it’s perfect for any history and nature loving couple / family. You can see the spot pictured in the dip-kiss photo of Annie & Andy above.
